I can't help myself, when I see those horses I get all giggly. They are beautiful and those breeders have a knack for creative and memorable names.

My appy mare Spots on Saras Toga is a distant relation - she's out of Saratoga Sal.

Not all that distant - Saratoga Sal is Aphillynamedjilly's dam & she's also the dam of Dial A Babe, who is Fabulous Strike's 2nd dam.

Oh. And Dial A Babe has another daughter - Slewzy Floozy.

Well, ok. Distant as in "not invited to take pictures at the family reunion".

Laughing Laughing Laughing

Actually, Barb at Xanthus used to show Appaloosas & still had one as recently as a couple years ago (a Waps Spot line one, as I recall, probably by the same sire as yours, if I were to hazard a guess).

I think Spots on Sara's Toga's invitation to the family's annual Christmas party is in the mail!

Yay! She'll put on one of her fancy holiday sweaters and get her hair done.

It's kinda funny to see successful racehorses and know she's related. I can outrun her...but she has a terrific brain and acts so much like a good TB mare. Awesome cross, I'm fortunate she's in my pasture.

The family has good riding horse brains, if they like you . . . I rode her half-sister Saratoga Sass (she didn't get one of the cool names) for a while & that mare gave 110% when she was with you. She gave 99% even when she wasn't, but with a look to her eye that suggested she was in no mood for human error that day. (The family also has an attitude, on occasion, which is another family trait. Not always a bad attitude, but an attitude, none the less Laughing ).

Oh, and tell your girl the reunion's pretty casual, she should just come & enjoy her quirky sisters!

we had a pair of suffolk geldings that came from the Kentucky Horse park whos names were Cheese and Crackers....its was just TOO darned cute and what a team too even turned out they stayed side by side like they were hooked up.
I love some of the names people come up with.
My fav filly name that we raised and sold to a hunter barn we named Justa Sugar Hobby
